Quality Control for India Sourcing

Quality control in India sourcing is a 3-stage inspection process — pre-production, in-line, and pre-shipment — conducted on-site by trained inspectors using AQL 2.5 sampling to verify every production run before goods leave the factory.

1 in 5 containers sourced from India gets rejected at destination. The cause is always the same: no one inspected the goods before they shipped. Hatti runs a 3-stage quality control protocol on every order — pre-production, in-line, and pre-shipment. Nothing ships without documented QC clearance. This is not a service add-on. It is built into every sourcing engagement.

Pre-Production Inspection

Before production starts

  • Raw material verification against approved sample
  • Bill of materials audit — material grade, weight, dimensions
  • Color matching under D65 light (textiles), material certification check (industrial)
  • Packaging material and labeling proofs reviewed
  • Production timeline confirmed with factory floor manager

Outcome: Production begins only after PPI clearance. If materials fail, supplier replaces before a single unit is produced.

02

In-Line Inspection

At 30–40% production completion

  • Dimensional accuracy check on random sample (AQL 2.5)
  • Workmanship audit — stitching (textiles), joints (furniture), finish (decor)
  • Functionality testing where applicable (drawers, hinges, zippers, hardware)
  • Photographic documentation of defects with categorization (critical / major / minor)
  • Corrective action issued on-site if defect rate exceeds AQL

Outcome: Production continues only after ILI clearance. Defective batches are reworked before final run.

03

Pre-Shipment Inspection

100% production complete, goods packed

  • Final random sample per AQL 2.5 (normal severity, Level II)
  • Carton drop test and packaging integrity verification
  • Labeling, barcoding, and compliance marking audit
  • Container loading supervision with photographic record
  • Full AQL report with photographs sent to buyer before container sealing

Outcome: Container loads only after PSI clearance and buyer approval of AQL report. No exceptions.

Why QC Fails Without a Ground Team

Remote QC doesn't work for India sourcing. Factories are spread across 14 industrial clusters, production standards vary by region, and verbal quality commitments mean nothing without physical verification. Hatti maintains on-ground QC personnel across all active clusters. Inspections are conducted in-factory, not from photographs.
